Trusts & Foundations

Like many museums and heritage conservation charities, we rely on the generous support of grant-making Trusts and Foundations to enable us to carry out our ongoing education and heritage conservation projects.

The support we receive helps to protect some of the UK’s most important heritage and assists us to tell the unique story of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site and how it has shaped society since the 18th century.

Over the years the support of Trusts and Foundations, and statutory funders has enabled us to complete a number of major heritage conservation, restoration and capital projects.

Madeley wood company outdoor adventure

Located at Blists Hill Victorian Town, the Outdoor Adventure project is inspired by the iconic industrial heritage situated at Blists Hill and throughout the wider Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. The project will capture the historic essence of the area bring to life stories of the past through play, creating a free flow, flexible space that has a sense of magic, enabling children to explore a range of different social, emotional and physical experiences, participate in free play and expression, and importantly learn through play.

The Outdoor Adventure is name after the Madeley Wood Company, a pioneering brick and tile manufacturer who in 1758-1758 erected the Bedlam Furnace on the banks of the River Severn.
