A man, dressed in Victorian costume, is driving a large green steam engine. The engine has two large rear wheels and one roller at the front. There is smoke coming out of a chimney stack on the front of the engine.

Steam Gala

  • Blists Hill Victorian Town
  • Included with museum admission ticket

The annual Steam Gala weekend is coming back to Blists Hill Victorian Town!

During the Industrial Revolution, steam, produced by burning coal, powered the machines that turned raw materials into new goods and the vehicles that transported them to new markets.

At the Steam Gala, steam engines will roam the town's streets, giving visitors a flavour of the sights, sounds and smells of Victorian Britain. Visitors will be able to get up close to steam engines and see how they work, with the chance to ask questions and learn more about how essential they were to the Industrial Revolution.

PASS PLUS holders and Friends of IGMT can park in our IGMT car park for free when attending this event by validating their PASS PLUS at the front desk when they arrive.
