Ever wondered how traditional clay pipes were made?

To celebrate Heritage Crafts Week, we're hosting a clay pipe making workshop at Coalport China Museum where you can have a go at making clay pipes in a range of styles and shapes.

During this workshop, led by heritage pipe maker James Ashwell, you will have exclusive access to some traditional cast iron pipe moulds as well as some modern 3D printed moulds, many of which are from our collections.

Your pipes will be fired and available for collection around two weeks later. If you wish to use your pipes, the tips can be glazed. Postage can be arranged at an additional cost. Please speak to our team on the day.

This workshop is suitable for those aged 18+.

Please arrive from 10.45am for an 11am start. All materials and refreshments will be provided and you are advised to bring your own lunch.

Aprons are provided however we recommend dressing appropriately (in older, warmer clothing and closed-toe shoes) for the workshop as you may get messy.

Free parking and entry to the museum for all attendees.
