Filming & Location Hire

Lights, camera, action... The Ironbridge Gorge Museum could be just the location you’re looking for.

The ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums are popular locations for commercial filming and photography and the Museums’ many iconic artefacts and galleries provide the perfect backdrop for documentaries and interviews.

Do feel free to contact us to talk about filming & location hire - contact the Filming Team, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, on 01952 435900 or pr@ironbridge.org.uk

We have an experienced filming team who understand the operational needs of film crews and will be on-hand at all times during filming.

The Ironbridge Gorge Museums are in Telford, Shropshire - just 45 minutes from the centre of Birmingham and less than 3 hours from central London. We are well connected to the national rail (Telford Central is our nearest station) and road network (close to M54/M6) and less than an hour from Birmingham International airport.

There is on-site parking at all Museums and numerous refreshment outlets and lavatories along with areas that can be used as dressing rooms, green rooms and production offices. Our Caterers can arrange for hospitality, especially during out-of-hours filming. There are numerous hotels, pubs & restaurants within a 10 minute drive of the Museums.

We warmly encourage filming at the Museums but we are first and foremost a visitor attraction so ask that all filming takes place outside of our opening hours where appropriate. Where that’s not possible we welcome daytime filming but we ask that you work with us to ensure our other visitors also have a great day.

There is a charge for using the Museums for photography and filming and these rates will be discussed when initial enquiries are made.

All film crews will be required to have public liability insurance, to the minimum value of £10m, when filming on site. We will also need copies of risk assessments, method statements and a signed contract.

Locations

At the set-like Blists Hill Victorian Town you will find authentic Victorian shops, workplaces and cottages. Amongst the buildings are a Bank, Chemist’s Shop, Grocers’, Pub, Printers and Sweet Shop all kitted out with wonderful dark-wood Victorian counters, shelving and accessories. The Town can also be set dressed and used for other periods such as 1920s, 1930s, 1940s or even 1950s.

As well as the Victorian Town there are former ceramic factories at Coalport China Museum, with decorating workshops & bottle kilns, and Jackfield Tile Museum, with period room settings inside a model Victorian factory, not to mention a couple of fine Georgian Townhouses in the Darby Houses.

We welcome drama, living history, historical re-enactment, corporate films, music video and documentary film crews.
