A day out in the Gorge
Ironbridge Valley of Invention is not just for families.
This summer curious adults can explore the area's history and be inspired by beautiful crafts at our museums across the Gorge.

Explore the beauty of the Gorge
Start your day at Coalport China Museum. Explore inside a bottle kiln, see examples of Coalport and Caughley china and learn about the lives of local workers.
From Coalport, you can take a 15-20 minute riverside walk to Jackfield Tile Museum. This scenic stroll also passes Maw Craft Centre en route.
Should you wish to drive, both museums have ample parking (free with a PASS PLUS).

A stroll through the history of tiles
At Jackfield Tile Museum, stroll through a history of tile making, via Covent Garden tube station and a 1940s bar.
Sit down at the Peacock Café, which has plenty of space inside and out, for a light lunch.

Walk over an iconic monument
From Jackfield, stroll back to Ironbridge. Walk across the world-famous Iron Bridge, then step inside the Tollhouse to uncover the secrets of its design and construction.
Take your time to explore Ironbridge town and its riverside paths. Why not pick up a memento of your visit from the Museum of the Gorge gift shop.

Back to where it all began
From Ironbridge walk up to Coalbrookdale. For a break, stop at the Furnace Kitchen.
