An update from the Friends' Committee - meeting from 24 July 2020

The Friends Committee held a Committee Meeting via Zoom on 24 July and took the following decisions:

  • Following advice from the Charity Commission, the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the Ironbridge Museum Trust has been postponed until 2021.  It was felt this was preferable to attempting to hold a Virtual AGM
  • The talks programme is suspended until further notice. Resumption of meetings will only take place once the Committee are satisfied that socially distancing and other regulations/recommendations can be safely met and with the agreement of the Museum trustees
  • The Friends will continue to support the Museum in every way possible whilst it negotiates a very difficult period both financially and operationally
  • The Committee regrets the non appearance of the IQ Quarterly but with the Museum currently operating  with drastically reduced staffing levels this has been unavoidable
  • The Committee hopes that members will understand this very difficult situation and continue to support the museum in every way possible

The Friends of Ironbridge help in many ways:

  • Helping in exhibits
  • Providing a trained guiding service
  • Purchasing important additions to the Museum's collections
  • Providing a 'kick-start' donation for larger national grants
  • Researching into the social history of the area and record memories
  • Contributing specialised knowledge and interests
