Make an appointment to visit the Library and Archives

Researchers are welcome, by prior appointment, to consult the resources in the Library and Archives at Coalbrookdale.

All researchers wishing to visit the Library and/or Archives are required to complete the Research Enquiry Form in advance. This is both for security purposes, and to allow us to accurately record researcher numbers. The information you provide will be retained by us indefinitely, and we will only use it to contact you in the future for the specific reason of collections care or security. We will not pass on your details to anyone outside the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust.

The Library and Archives Reading Room is located on the second floor of a 19th century industrial building and does not currently have a lift installed. If access is likely to be difficult, please inform us at the time of making your request and we will do our best to accommodate.

To make an appointment please fill in this form. We will endeavour to respond within two weeks.

View our privacy policy.

Prior to undertaking research with our Collections you will be asked to sign an agreement to abide by our Archive Guidance for Access and Use, and our Library and Archives Code of Conduct.

Please provide details of your research question here. In order to direct your request to the most appropriate member of the team, please include any known names, dates and locations, for example, and any catalogue reference numbers, where known.
We are open by appointment on weekdays from 10-12 and 2-4. Please provide preferred days/times and we will do our best to accommodate. The reading room can be oversubscribed at times and we require at least two weeks’ notice prior to your intended visit.
