Autumn & Winter 2020 Special Event T&Cs

These terms and conditions apply to Blists Hill Christmas Weekends including Ice Skating, Santa & The Elves Workshop Grotto and Finding Santa Grotto & Winter Wonderland Grotto at Coalbrookdale only.

Special Event terms and conditions apply only to the year in which the events take place. This terms & conditions page will be updated in January 2021.Special event tickets are valid for admission to the specified event on the date and time specified only.

  • Special event tickets are valid for admission to the specified event on the date and time specified only
  • For special events at Blists Hill Victorian Town we will send you an order number - you need to bring this to the event. If you have a ticket for the Winter Wonderland Grotto at Coalbrookdale we will send you a PDF ticket which you will need to print your ticket/s before the event
  • E-tickets can be presented on mobile devices so long as each QR code & order number is viewable
  • Special Event tickets, including Additional Experiences are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the Museum takes a decision to cancel an event
  • If the museum needs to cancel or rearrange an event, all ticket holders will be contacted with further details by email as soon as we possibly can
  • Refunds will not be offered for unused tickets
  • Special Events and Additional Experiences will not be cancelled because of poor weather. In the event of very extreme weather we may need to cancel. In these circumstances we will get in touch with you via email as soon as we possibly can to provide information
  • If you have misplaced your ticket email, replacement tickets can be offered by contacting the Visitor Information Centre on 01952 433424 or email
  • Special event tickets and Additional Experiences are subject to availability
  • We recommend bringing a torch to winter evening events
  • Children 16 and under must be accompanied at all times by an adult
  • For Special Events a child is aged 3-16. Children under 3 are admitted free and do not need an event ticket
    • Children may require tickets for additional experiences, Santa and the Elves Workshop Grotto, Finding Santa Grotto, Coalbrookdale Grotto, Ice Skating and Skating Under the Stars where you choose to purchase those additional experiences. Please see specific terms and conditions for those experiences in the guidance below
  • Dogs are not allowed at evening events or at the Coalbrookdale Grotto (with the exception of Assistance Dogs). Please see our policy on visiting with Dogs on our website here - https://www.ironbridge.org.uk/plan/dog-friendly/
  • Parking on site is limited. Normal car parking fees apply. See our car parking charges and conditions here ironbridge.org.uk/plan/how-to-get-here/#car-parks
  • Annual Pass holders are entitled to discounts for some special event tickets (varying discounts apply). Details of this can be found on the specific special event page on the website. The Annual Pass must be shown on arrival at the event with a valid Special Event Ticket or you will need to pay the difference on the gate - this will be non-refundable
    • Please note that the Annual Pass does not provide discounts for Santa and the Elves Workshop Grotto, Finding Santa Grotto or Winter Wonderland at Coalbrookdale Grotto

specific event T&Cs

Blists Hill Victorian Christmas Weekends

  • Standard daytime admission tickets, including Annual Pass Tickets, are not valid for admission to this event. Annual Pass holders receive a 25% discount off a full price ticket
  • Santa & the Elves Workshop Grotto, Finding Santa Grotto and Ice skating tickets are time allocated and available in advance only. They are not transferable to other sessions
  • Event admission tickets do not include access to the Santa & The Elves Workshop Grotto, Finding Santa Grotto or Ice Skating. Separate tickets for those Additional Experiences are required, subject to availability

Additional Experiences T&Cs

All references to Additional Experiences in these Special Event Terms & Conditions refer to Santa & the Elves Workshop Grotto, Finding Santa Grotto, Ice Skating & Skating Under the Stars.

  • Event admission tickets do not include access to Additional Experiences. Separate tickets for these experiences are required, subject to availability
  • Additional Experience tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the Museum takes a decision to cancel an event
  • All other standard Special Event Terms & Conditions also apply to Additional Experiences

For Santa & the Elves Workshop -

    • Children under 2 will be allowed free entry into this experience but won’t receive a present from Father Christmas. If you wish your child to receive a Gift, you must purchase a ticket for this Additional Experience
    • A maximum of 3 accompanying adults per paying child can visit this Grotto free of charge. For the purposes of a Special Event ticket or Additional Experience ticket, an adult is classed as 17 and over. If you are attending with more than one child, we would request that you only bring a maximum of three adults into the Grotto with your children

For Finding Santa Grotto

    • Each Ticket reserves a carriage on our train for up to four passengers
      • Finding Santa Grotto is bookable in carriages of 4 (so for example, if your family is 2 adults & 4 children you will need to book 2 carriages)
    • Any Child riding in a carriage will be provided with a gift from Father Christmas
    • This event involves travelling in an underground tunnel and the experience will last around 25 minutes

For Winter Wonderland Grotto at Coalbrookdale -

  • Children under 2 will be allowed free entry into this experience but won’t receive a present from Father Christmas. If you wish your child to receive a Gift, you must purchase a ticket for this Additional Experience
  • Grotto tickets are time allocated and available in advance only. They are not transferable to other sessions
  • Grotto tickets do not include access to any of the Museums. Separate admission tickets are required and can be bought in advance from our website
  • A maximum of 3 accompanying adults per paying child can visit the Grotto free of charge. For the purposes of a Special Event ticket or Additional Experience ticket, an adult is classed as 17 and over

COVID-19

If a Special Event is cancelled due to Coronavirus, the Ironbridge Gorge Museums will offer a full refund of any ticket that has been purchased. For the purposes of this statement, a Special Event is regarded as Blists Hill Christmas Weekends and Coalbrookdale Grotto. Please refer to the Museum's general terms and conditions for our policy regarding annual pass and single site tickets for regular museum entry.

Cancellation because of Local Lockdown

We request that any visitors travelling from an area that is subject to local lockdown follow the relevant government guidance to help protect fellow visitors and our employees.

    • For the purposes of this statement, a Special Event is regarded as Winter Wonderland Grotto at Coalbrookdale, Blists Hill Victorian Christmas Weekends and associated Additional Experiences. Please refer to the Museum's general terms and conditions for our policy regarding annual pass and single site tickets for regular museum entry.
    • The Ironbridge Gorge Museums will offer a full refund of any ticket that has been purchased for a Special Event if you would be travelling from an area that is subject to a local lockdown.
    • Tickets will only be refunded up to 24 hours prior to the event start date and time. (For example, if you were due to attend the Victorian Christmas Weekend Event on 5 December at 10am, refunds will only be processed for requests that are made prior to 10 am on 4 December).
    • Your refund will be processed within 5 working days of making a Refund Request.
    • Ticket holders making a Refund Request must complete a Refund Request form on our website which will be passed to our Visitor Services Team to process. You will receive an email confirmation once your refund has been made. You can access the Refund Request form here.

Cancellation because of Covid-19 Illness

We request that any visitors that are displaying the symptoms of Coronavirus do not travel to any of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums.

    • We understand that if you have developed symptoms of the coronavirus that you may need to cancel your Special Event Ticket. For the purposes of this statement, a Special Event is regarded as Winter Wonderland Grotto at Coalbrookdale, Blists Hill Victorian Christmas Weekends and associated Additional Experiences Please refer to the Museum's general terms and conditions for our policy regarding annual pass and single site tickets for regular museum entry.
    • The Ironbridge Gorge Museums will offer a full refund of any ticket that has been purchased for a Special Event if you need to cancel due to displaying symptoms of the Coronavirus.
    • Tickets will only be refunded up to 24 hours prior to the event start date and time. (For example, if you were due to attend the Victorian Christmas Weekend Event on 5 December at 10am, refunds will only be processed for requests that are made prior to 10 am on 4 December).
    • Your refund will be processed within 5 working days of making a Refund Request.
