Laundry Session
The activity takes place in the wash-house behind the cottages on Canal Street.
Students will see the following in use; a copper heated by a fire, a water pump, dolly tub, mangle and overhead drying rack.
This is an interactive demonstration where the children are encouraged to help with sorting the clothes, pumping the water, using the posser, mangling the clothes and pegging them out on the line.
They can then go to the cottage kitchen and see how ironing was done before electricity.
