Steampunk Festival

Blists Hill Victorian Town

THE TOWN THAT NEVER WAS #4

For the weekend of 17 & 18 July 2021 only, Blists Hill Victorian Town will again transform into The Town That Never Was.

The Ministry of Steampunk are taking over in the most spectacular way. So, grab your goggles and dress to impress in your Steampunk finery as you enjoy the charms of the UK’s only complete Victorian Town with a science fiction twist.  Browse the wares of the very best Steampunk makers and traders and watch the Martian Expeditionary Force presentations.  There will be lots of performances and musical entertainment around the Town throughout the weekend, all presented in a safe and secure environment.

A neo-Victorian scientific fantasy, Steampunk is all about mixing the old with the new. It re-imagines today’s technology powered by nineteenth century steam, combined with lots of good humour, fun, games and elaborate fashions inspired by Victorian and Edwardian costumes reinvented for the twenty first century and beyond.

This year’s theme is crime, detection, fantasy and fun.  Can you become a great Victorian detective to rival Sherlock Holmes and work out the puzzles and trails? Take part in the child friendly ‘Teeny Dinosaur Hunt’, witness a daring, but comical, bank robbery and join in the socially distanced end of day parade. This event is sure to delight and amaze all the family.

OTHER FEATURES INCLUDE:

  • The fabulous Belly Fusion Dance Collective performing at intervals around the Town
  • Sci-fi Airship Pirates display
  • Articulate and animated Speakers Corner presentations
  • Specialist Steampunk arts and crafts market

The event runs on both days from 10am-5pm.

Buses will run every 10 minutes from the Park & Ride and will set down any visitors parking there at Blists Hill Victorian Town. Social distancing measures will be in place on the service and a face covering will need to be worn, unless you are exempt from wearing one.
