ReCreation Day At Dale End Park

Day two of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival 2018 brings you a fabulous day of upcycling fun and family entertainment in Dale End Park and throughout Ironbridge town centre.

This free family festival, organised by Veolia in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council, runs 10am to 4pm.

  • Over 40 stands, workshops and games
  • Make musical instruments from rubbish
  • Buy beautiful gifts made from upcycled materials
  • Join in fun workshops run by Shropshire-based artists
  • Treat yourself at the local food & drink stands
  • Don't miss the huge upcycled Dragon on display

For more details about activities in Dale End Park click here or see the Facebook page.

A highlight of the day will be Telford On Film - a celebration of the town of Ironbridge using newly digitised film from the Media Archive for Central England. From coracles on the Severn to the world famous cast-iron bridge plus a nostalgic visit from one of the town's most famous sons, football legend Billy Wright, take a trip down memory lane. The film will be shown in the Museum of The Gorge which will be free-entry all day.

Make sure you visit the Iron Bridge this weekend. As part of the World Heritage Festival English Heritage have arranged special walking tours around the bridge at 10am and 2pm. There's a £5 donation to support the project. Also look out for the guides in Victorian attire as you cross the walk way. Find out more about the conservation project. There's also colouring in sheets for the family.

  • Explore the outdoor exhibition along the Wharfage celebrating the history of Ironbridge
  • All of Ironbridge’s specialist shops, cafes and pubs will be open, ready to welcome festival-goers
