Mould & Make Workshops

Enginuity

This summer join-in fun design & make workshops at Enginuity and discover more about how steam, fire and furnaces were used in the Industrial Revolution through a variety of fun, and safe, hands-on activities.

22 - 30 July & 7 - 13 August: Enamelling workshops
Families will be able to decorate copper key rings using enamel beads and watch as they are fixed in place using very high temperatures in a mini-furnace.

31 July - 6 August & 14 - 20 August: Pewter medallion workshops
Have a go at making a pewter medallion to attach to a key ring. Carve your design into foam to produce a mould and then see it used as a cast for molten pewter; large pieces of metal were cast using a similar process during the Industrial Revolution some 300 years ago.

21 August - 3 September: Paddleboat making workshops
Use your imagination to create a paddleboat to sail across Enginuity’s pool.

The drop-in workshops will take place daily, between 10.30am and 3.15pm; there is a small additional charge of between £1 and £3 for materials.

These fun family sessions are part of our 50th anniversary programme of events, which will continue throughout the year.
