Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival

The annual Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival, running from 4 - 12 May, is a programme of 57 FREE walks in and around the World Heritage Site.

Join the volunteer walk leaders of the Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival who will be dusting off their boots, rucksacks and maps to give visitors the opportunity to join them to explore this most spectacular part of the West Midlands.

After a major restoration project the Iron Bridge can be seen in all its glory again - in its fantastic new red colour.  Of the 57 walks on offer over half start from the Bridge so you will have the opportunity to view and photograph on the day.

There are a range of different walks every day for serious walkers, at least one of over 17 miles. Slightly shorter but still an all-day expedition there are walks between 10 and 17 miles, including 2 which have a break for lunch in a local pub (lunch not included!).

For the less energetic there are walks of approximately 8 miles and to complete the daily programme 3 short walks with a range of different themes, ranging from a Troubadour wander around the Gorge to bird identification on the Wrekin and from a tour of the Jitties in Broseley to some of the historical sites in Madeley.

All walks are free, however pre-booking is essential as numbers are limited to a maximum of 20 people. Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome on some walks, but please check before booking.

To reserve a place or find out more contact the Ironbridge Visitor Information Centre at tic@ironbridge.org.uk or call 01952 433 424.
