How to leave a Gift in your Will
Your passion is our passion...
We know that everyone has a different reason for loving the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. Some people have a passion for ensuring the conservation of the many listed buildings and scheduled monuments in our care whilst others have been inspired by our innovative and creative learning programmes.
If you are thinking about leaving a gift in your Will to the Museum, there are four areas you might like to choose to support - so you know your donation is really making a difference:
- Lifelong Learning
- Museums and Collections
- Listed Buildings and Scheduled Monuments
- Exhibitions and exhibits
Alternatively, you can choose to leave a gift for our general funds which will allow us to meet our most urgent needs at the time of your donation. If you would like to express a more specific preference for where your gift is used we suggest you discuss your wishes with the Museum before deciding.
Making a Will
Making a Will is not difficult and needn't be expensive. There are a number of ways you can make a Will but we would strongly recommend that you visit a solicitor who will be able to advise you. Solicitors will charge a fee, but you will receive sound professional advice and you can be sure that your wishes are accurately reflected. The fee will depend on the detail of the Will you write but prices usually start from around £150.

If you already have a Will...
But would like to leave a gift to The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, you can do so by making a simple addition to your existing Will. This is called a codicil. This document is a supplement to your Will enabling you to include new instructions and delete old ones without having to go through the task of rewriting the whole Will.
