This delighful hand carved then cast magnet features the world's first cast iron bridge. The bridge was built over the River Severn at Coalbrookdale in 1779. In addition to iron founders and industrial spies who flocked to see this wondrous bridge, it also attracted a wealth of artists and travellers from far and wide. The Bridge had a far reaching impact: on local society, on the economy, bridge design and on the use of cast iron in building.
