M A Rooker Iron Bridge Tankard

This beautiful tankard is decorated with a design by Michael Angelo Rooker 1743-1801. He was an English painter, printmaker, and scenographer who was commissioned by Abraham Darby III to paint a picture of the Iron Bridge. This painting was later engraved by William Ellis in July 1782. The engraving was dedicated by the Coalbrookdale Company to George III and celebrates the historical importance of this Ancient Monument. The print is held in the Museum's own Art Collection. The Iron Bridge design wraps around the cup and is topped by a decorative trim with gold edging. Item comes individually gift boxed.
