Easter Activities

Blists Hill Victorian Town

Join the residents at Blists Hill Victorian Town as they celebrate Easter with fun family activities including Egg Dancing, Egg & Spoon Races plus an Easter chick trail.

From Tuesday 29 March until Sunday 10 April join the residents at Blists Hill Victorian Town as they celebrate Easter with fun family activities including Egg Dancing, Egg & Spoon Races plus an Easter chick trail.

A highlight of our Easter activities will be the unusual pastime of egg dancing held opposite the town’s Print Shop at 11am every morning. Once blindfolded, the townsfolk will dance across the street without stepping on eggs that are carefully placed along their route. You can have-a-go after the demonstration and win a yummy chocolate reward for completing the course without stepping on an egg!

Every afternoon at 2pm you can join in the fun egg and spoon races on The Green – yummy chocolate prizes are on offer!

Other family activities include candle dipping - using Victorian techniques to make multi-coloured candles to take home; a lesson in the school house at 12noon and a ride on the horse-drawn bus between 1.30pm and 3pm, while a self-led Easter chick trail and Easter egg hunt will be on offer throughout each day.  There’s also a sing-a-long in the New Inn between 1pm and 3pm (Mon – Fri) and 1pm and 4pm (Sat & Sun).

During your visit you’ll also be able to chat to the Townsfolk in their shops and cottages, find out about curious remedies in the Pharmacy, see traditional skills in action at the printers, candle makers and decorative plasterers and join in the sing-a-long in the New Inn Pub.

There are plenty of places to eat at Blists Hill Victorian Town including the Fried Fish Dealers where you can buy a portion of traditionally prepared fish and chips or the Bakers where the smell of freshly baked bread is sure to tempt!

Demonstrations vary from day to day and normal admission charges apply. There are plenty of places to eat at Blists Hill Victorian Town including the Fried Fish Dealers where you can buy a portion of traditionally prepared fish and chips or the Bakers where the smell of freshly baked bread is sure to tempt!
