Pit Ponies to visit Blists Hill Victorian Town

Two Pit Ponies will be visiting Blists Hill Victorian Town on selected days over the Summer.

Billy & Nelson are named after two ponies who worked at nearby Kemberton pit during the Industrial Revolution.

Pit Ponies were used throughout the 19th & 20th centuries to transport tools and materials to and from the coal face of underground mines. They were selected due to their size and strength and spent the majority of their time underground.
Billy & Nelson will be on the Green next to the Clay Mine building, on Sunday 21st, Saturday 27th August and Saturday 3rd September.
