When a child is young - from birth to age five or six - s/he is developing many of the psychological and social aptitudes that will form the basis of their approach to life as an adult. It is therefore a crucial period for enabling a child to gain a positive appreciation of themselves, of others and of the world around them.
At Blists Hill Victorian Towndedicated Early Years Days are set aside to ensure little ones have the site to themselves. Special activities may be arranged such as storytelling in the woods. It is the perfect place to immerse young children in a complete experience, with its range of houses and shops from the late 19th Century. Costumed demonstrators carry out different domestic chores such as washing on Monday and cooking on Wednesday. The printing presses, candle dipping and horse and cart can be seen most days. During the season there is a fair and in nice weather there is nothing better than a picnic on the lower green.

Our Design & Technology Education Centre, Enginuity, is an obvious choice when encouraging young children to investigate everyday items. ‘Young Engineers’ is a dedicated soft play area for under 7s that helps them develop their skills through play.
