Fieldsketches

It is often useful to be able to record information on a sketch, or photograph, as a record of the geography of an area or location. A good, clear labelled (annotated) picture record, is a very useful source of geographical information. Photographs taken, at the same location, over a period of time, are exceptionally valuable as they may record change. It is up to the geographer to say why change has taken place.

The attached fieldsketch template (PDF) is one of several ways of recording observations.

Two field sketch / photo exercises are included. They could be copied and imported into a photo editing package, or even into a simple programme such as 'Paint'. Labels can be added, and the key / notes completed. Any of the other photographs, including those in this web site, could also be copied and imported, to give new exercises to complete.
