ITE What can the Museum do for you

(QTT Standard 3.1.5 teaching in settings other than schools)

The day starts with a talk about using the Museum, highlighting links to the curriculum and suggesting strategies for working with pupils on the different sites. There will be an opportunity to visit a museum site and take part in a hands-on activity before you complete a ‘visit planning task’ making practical use of the days learning.

How to Use Museum objects creatively

This half day session can take place either on site at one of our museums or in your institution using a selection of artefacts from our reserve collection. It incorporates a number of hands-on activities designed to highlight the cross-curricular potential of using objects.

Using Artefacts and original sources to enrich your teaching at KS3

This session will use artefacts, documents and oral history sources looking at their use in teaching KS3 History, The Industrial Revolution. The session can be based at Coalbrookdale, the birthplace of the industrial revolution, or in your institution.

CPD Make Your Own Museum Project

This is a truly versatile project that can be used to enliven any topic or can focus on the individual child. It uses almost every aspect of the curriculum and delivers many of the soft learning targets such as confidence, self esteem, motivation, enjoyment of and satisfaction from achievement.
