Heavy Horse Weekend

Blists Hill Victorian Town

On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May, the sound of hooves will ring out on the cobbled streets of Blists Hill Victorian Town as teams of horses visit and demonstrate how they helped tradesmen and industrialists carry out their work.

Witness the impressive sight of Victorian-era carriages and carts being skilfully manoeuvred by these gentle giants, transporting you to an era where horsepower meant something entirely different!

Engage with knowledgeable handlers who will share captivating insights into the historical significance of heavy horses and their vital role during the Victorian era.

Demonstrations will include:

  • Plaiting a horse mane
  • Farrier demonstration
  • Harnessing demonstration
  • Horse Bus carriage rides

The Boys Brigade Hut will be open with a number of equestrian products available to purchase.
