Steam Machines
The Coalbrookdale Ironworks was closely associated with the early development of steam power, producing the first cast iron cylinders for beam engines in the 1720s. In 1802 it also built the world's first steam locomotive to a design by Cornishman Richard Trevithick. A working replica of this engine is among the variety of steam engines which can be seen regularly in operation at Blists Hill Victorian Town, where you can also go down to the ironworks and watch the magnificent rolling mill engines in steam.
