London shape cup and saucer

In the early 1800s polychrome (multi-coloured) and gilded (gold decorated) designs superseded Chinese-style blue and white patterns. Boldly painted flowers such as these are found on many early John Rose pieces. This angular shape is called the London shape, and was very fashionable at the time.
