Commemorative mark

John Rose won a Gold Medal from the Society of Arts for developing a lead-free glaze. Lead poisoning from glazes and enamel paints was known as Potters Rot. John Rose used this commemorative mark on many Coalport pieces made between c1820 and 1830.
