Most early John Rose pieces were teawares. Tea drinking was very popular, just as it is today, and cheap imported teawares made the market very competitive. These simply decorated oval shape teawares date from about 1800. Compare them with much heavier ornate design on the London shape teacup, made just fifteen years later.
