Tea was brought into Britain on the same sailing ships as porcelains from about 1658 and by the 1730s was the most popular and fashionable new drink. This is a small-sized wastebowl, to hold used tea-leaves, was made between 1775 and 1780. It features one of the earliest Chinese-style landscape designs produced at Caughley, known as Rock and Willow.
