Caughley is well-known for its moulded cabbage leaf maskhead jugs, but the earliest Caughley jugs had plain curved bodies with a maskhead spout. This jug is one of the earliest known Caughley pieces, dating from c1773 and showing the Thorny Rose and Lily print. Underneath the handle is a rare print of a dog.
