Cabbage leaf maskhead jug

Between 1792 and 1796, Turner produced a transitional porcelain, probably made from a new supply of soapstone and from 1796 a hard-paste porcelain, with a blue-tinted glaze, was made. It was often of poor quality, as shown on this cabbage leaf maskhead jug. This jug was a commemorative piece for the Wenlock Volunteers (Thomas Turner was the Captain of the local unit) and was made in c1799.
