It is often claimed that Caughley was the first company to introduce the famous Willow Pattern into Britain. In fact the Willow Pattern design as we know it today was probably introduced by Staffordshire potters in the early 1800s. The term Willow landscape was used in the 1700s and probably refers to the Willow Nankin pattern shown here on a bread and butter plate dating from c1780.
