The Ironbridge Gorge Museum houses all archaeological material recovered from excavations within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. The earliest archaeological projects in the Gorge go back to the 1970s. We also hold other material from fieldwork we have undertaken elsewhere in Shropshire and within the hinterland of the River Severn. Most of the material is post-medieval in date, but we do have a number of medieval and earlier finds from the local area. Professional colleagues and members of the public are welcome to examine our collections on appointment.
