Archaeology Days at Ironbridge
Since 2001 we have offered a series of archaeology open days at various Museum sites, coinciding with the National Archaeology Week organised by the Council for British Archaeology . In 2001, 2002 and 2003 these took place at Blists Hill Victorian Town , in 2004 and 2005 they took place at the Upper Forge excavation in Coalbrookdale.
Ironbridge Archaeology Days are always free of charge, and offer the following activities
- hands on excavation of real archaeology
- finds processing and finds drawing activities
- historical mapwork and landscape reconstruction
- standing building recording
- landscape survey
In addition we have also provided art and interpretation workshops, hands-on exploration of ancient building techniques and a variety of other attractions.
Check back later in the year for more information about our ALL NEW excavation programme for 2006.
