Enginuity Workshops

A design and technology centre: free your imagination and discover how technology and ingenuity can turn good ideas into reality

  • Enginuity offers a number of challenging workshops.
  • These are team building hands-on design, make and test activities.
  • Workshops cost £7.00 + VAT per head.

Workshops on offer at present:

Pewter Puzzles
Design interlocking components using 2D Design CAD software and then cast them in Pewter.
Duration: 2-3 Hours
Groups to be a maximum of 35
Bridging the Gap
Using Westpoint Bridge Designer software, the groups will design and test a simple truss bridge. They will then make a scale model using paper straws, and test it to destruction.
Duration: 2 Hours
Groups to be a maximum of 35
Parachuting Parcels
Design and make a parachute and shock absorbing packaging for a china teddy bear to survive an 8 metre drop.
Duration: 1 1/2 - 2 Hours
Buggy Racer Challenge
Design and make a free wheeling/motor driven racing buggy to compete in the Enginuity Grand Prix
Duration: 1 1/2 - 2 Hours
Cantilever Challenge
The team challenge is to build a cantilever structure using paper straws, string and sellotape and see how far out and high up from the edge of the table it can lift a plastic ball.
Duration: 1 Hour
Rocketeering
Design and make a rocket to travel in a smooth trajectory and pass through the "Hoop of Opportunity".
Duration: 1 Hour
